The causes of accumulation

The accumulation of carbonates by precipitation of solutions in the soil occurs as a result of an oversaturation caused by one or more of the following:

Water loss through evaporation or transpiration.

Loss of CO2.

Water becoming overcharged with HC03-, or with salts with a common ion, as it moves through the soil.

An increase in pH.

An increase in temperature.
