Carbonates

Almost always forming polycrystalline aggregates, with individual crystals micritic or spatic in size.

In soils, they usually appear as calcite.

Only Polarizer. Gray in color (sometimes yellowish), at times with rhomboedric habits, with strong changes in relief.

Polarizer and Analyzer. Very high interference colors (forth order or higher), white-brown-pinkish appearance.
