EVALUACIÓN INICIAL DE LA TOXICIDAD DEL HEXACLOROCICLOHEXANO EN PLANTAS: CRECIMIENTO EN DISOLUCIÓN NUTRIENTE CONTAMINADA

Abstract

13 plant species of economic and/or agricultural interest has been used in an initial step of selection of best candidates of using in further phytoremediation studies. This article describes a greenhouse experience of plants growing in hydroponic systems contaminated with an heterogeneous mixture of main isomers of hexachlorocyclohexane (a-, b-, g- y d-HCH). It was found difference between treatments (CONTROL vs. HCH): modifications of plant architecture, altered physiology (respiration), fall of productivity (dry biomass). All plants were stressed, but the response is dependent upon plant species considered. Triticum aestivum L., Hordeum vulgare L., Avena sativa L., Brassica sp., and Phaseolus vulgaris L were able of alleviate negative effects of HCH, achieving resistance. These tolerant plants would be, a priori, ideal to following studies of HCH toxicity.
