INCEPTISOLES DEDICADOS AL CULTIVO DE TABACO EN NAVARRA

Abstract
Eight Inceptisols cultivated with tobacco plants have been described and classificated. These Inceptisols are representative from the township of Abaigar (Navarra). They are grouped in calcixerollic, fluventic and typic Xerochrept (Calcisols, Fluvisols and Cambisols according to F.A.O.). These soils have been developed over several materials, Pliocenic red clays as prevalent substratum, Miocenic limestones and sediments of the Quaternary. The slopes are plain or practically plain. This fact and the Xeric hydric regime determine the evolution of the soil sections because there doesn't exist appreciable leaching of carbonates and horizons of this material have been formed. Also, the potential productivity and the aptitud for irrigation have been established.
