Abstract:The capacity and limitations that the accumulated biodeposits under the mussel (Mytilus galloprovincialis) trays have, are characterized for their usage in the recuperation of degraded spaces in Galicia.

Although there are differences between sea loches, age and position of the trays, there is no risk of acidification due to oxidation of reduced sulphur forms, and the heavy metals levels are lower than those considered phytotoxic. The texture characteristics, carbonate content, organic matter and nutrient levels are specially favourable to the recuperation of mine soils which are poor en colloids and/or with high risk of potential acidification.

Key words.- Land reclamation, dredgings, biosediments, potencial acidity, heavy metals.
