Abstract.

The soil, as limited good and due to increasing population is in great demand, among others the agricultural use of it. In this sense, placing the crops in optimal conditions of the environment results essential to obtain the highest usable quality and quantity, without the environment being altered. In this work, we have applied specific evaluations methods developped in Mediterranean ecosystem to establish the suitability of different crops that cambisols from Extremadura present, at the same time we have selected species for afforestation that adapt better to characteristics of these soils, climate, and place in the Southwest of the Iberian Peninsula. The results that have been obtained indicate to us that the crops of potatoes and corn, with superficial limitation caused by the carbonate in content and texture, are the most appropiated, whereas the selected forest species are: Quercus suber, Pinus pinea and Quercus pirenayca.
